The second Brisbane Improv Festival will be presented by Big Fork Theatre this November, with 8 days and 7 nights of live shows and workshops hosted in their purpose-built improv and comedy theatre in Fortitude Valley, celebrating all things improvised comedy and showcasing the best comedic talent from Brisbane, interstate and overseas.
Big Fork Theatre is bringing some of the world’s best improvisers together in Brisbane, from all over Australia, New Zealand and even as far as Estonia! There are shows open to the public showcasing every kind of improvised theatre you can imagine, with improvised musicals, plays, game shows, and more.
Big Fork Theatre is Brisbane’s home of improvised comedy (improv), a popular art form where everything is made up on the spot – think shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway or Thank God You’re Here. Improv started the careers of many famous comedians including Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Will Ferrell, and Amy Poehler.
Big Fork Theatre is Brisbane’s biggest and best improvised comedy theatre company and operates Brisbane’s only dedicated improvisation and comedy theatre, in Fortitude Valley, which opened in February 2022. Since 2015, they have amassed a loyal following, with frequent sold out shows and featuring in Brisbane festivals. An award-winning theatre, Big Fork Theatre has produced hundreds of successful shows and classes where they introduce students to the wonderful world of improvisation.
