Death Becomes Her

4-5 June

Opera Queensland Studio, South Bank

Soprano Eva Kong presents a program of songs from Debussy’s Quatre Chansons de Jeunesse to Korean repertoire, alongside arias from some of the great operas including Roméo et Juliette and Madama Butterfly.

Eva will also perform arias of Violetta from La traviata, the role in which she made her recent debut South Korea. Eva’s recital is the perfect prelude to seeing Eva play the Countess in our production of The Marriage of Figaro in July.

Death Becomes Her is part of Opera Queensland’s Studio Series, a programme of intimate recitals and performancese in the newly refurbished Studio.

Opera Queensland’s Artistic Director & CEO Patrick Nolan curated a program featuring some of Australia’s most talented singers and musicians, performing repertoire that spans arias from renowned operas, lesser-known works from well-known artists, and contemporary compositions.

“From a tenor in full flight to a soprano who could stop time with her singing, the Studio Series celebrates the many wonders of the human voice, creating a space for the audience to deepen its understanding of the remarkable art of singing,” said Opera Queensland’s Artistic Director & CEO, Patrick Nolan, who curated the programme. “Audiences will discover new and beautiful music and gain insights into the artists as they introduce each song to reveal its personal significance.”
