Tyrone and Lesley in a Spot
The Loft, Theatre Republic, Kelvin Grove
17 – 21 September
Celebrating 20 years together, Tyrone and Lesley are a songwriting and performance duo who pair the high and low in a wild and binary orbit in the dark and sparkling space around the ukulele.
Presented as part of Brisbane Festival 2019 and produced by Metro Arts, Tyrone and Lesley in a Spot is a ukulele-led dance of screen and song where there are no wallflowers, a performance that will transport you all the way to exactly where you are. It’s funny ha ha, funny weird and a little bit funny valentine. It’s Tyrone. It’s Lesley. It’s their high spots in bright lights. Charming, poetic, absurd and unique, Tyrone and Lesley entwine their beautiful, funny music with moving images of skies, suns and moons, clarity and clouds, flickering bulbs and high windows.
Having one foot on the theatre stage and the other on the music stage is a striking stance which rewards audiences little and large from the Sydney Opera House to out the back of a fruit shop in West End. Playing festivals around the nation and overseas, they’ve released 5 albums and their latest, OPTIMISM, was dubbed Ukulele Recording of the Year.
