The Low Road Cafe

25 Eildon Rd, Windsor

We finally paid a visit to The Low Road Cafe and it was worth the wait!

Just around the corner from Windsor train station, this little cafe is shaded from the road by leafy shrubs and umbrellas but yo can’t miss it – the neon signs, abundance of hanging plants, and cheerful voices welcome you in from the street.

My partner ordered the savoury item off the specials menu and told me the perfectly gooey poached eggs, were an absolute highlight. He’s not sure what was in the rest of the dish, but remembers it was delicious…

I ordered straight off the standard menu and was delighted with my scrambled eggs – I can be picky, but these were perfectly cooked and creamy – topped with haloumi and greens. Service was quick and friendly, and the staff were super helpful and patient in managing my food allergies.

There’s a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll attitude about everything in this place, in a good way. Even the menu had me giggling…

I really enjoyed the cold drip coffee, perfect for the hot Brisbane weather that was still making everything very sticky at the time, and the coffee milkshake was reportedly delicious – you can’t go wrong with ice cream and espresso, especially out of a boot!

Pricing is standard for a cafe ($18-$20 for the mains we had) and the meals are huge – I could barely finish mine and I hardly have a small appetite.

Looking forward to returning for something sweet on the menu (the French toast looked positively decadent!) or maybe even for an afternoon drink.
