Wednesday morning saw excited young fans gathered at Iceworld Acacia Ridge for a special Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic morning tea hosted by television personality and 2018 Disney on Ice ambassador Shelley Craft. I have many fond memories of watching Shelley on Saturday Disney when I was growing up, so I must say I was one of the excited fans!

Shelley Craft, 2018 Disney on Ice Ambassador, and Disney on Ice skater Nick Fernandez take to the ice at Iceworld Acacia Ridge

Shelley was joined by Nick Fernandez, who skates as charming street rat Aladdin in the show, and is the only Australian skater in the 50-strong Disney on Ice cast. Nick demonstrated some of the incredible tricks he performs in the show, and he and Shelley helped adults and kids alike strap on their skates and try their own performances on the ice.

Several of Brisbane’s most talented young figure skaters also showed off their prowess on the ice. The skaters from Iceworld Acacia Ridge and Iceworld Boondall hail from thirteen different SEQ suburbs, aged between 8 and 17, and with an impressive list of awards, including one skater who is an International level competitor. Fifteen skaters will perform a pre-show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on June 30 (5:30pom show), an exciting opportunity for the young athletes to skate in front of a full audience, opening for such an esteemed show as Disney on Ice.
The show itself will combine dazzling costumes, incredible talents, and all the favourite characters of kids and kids-at-heart. Tickets are available now through Ticketek, starting at $29. For more information, see the Disney on Ice website.
