Burger Project – Edward Street

Where?
City – 1/144 Edward Street
South Bank – 1/271 Grey Street
It seems I’ve been hearing about Neil Perry’s Burger Project since it finally came to Brisbane – first in South Bank, now also on Edward Street. Finally, time to test it out!
I am a fairly avid burger lover, and being a vegetarian means that with less options, I tend to be a bit more picky about quality. The Burger Project vegie burger (only one option, pretty standard) is a crumbed confit mushroom with cheese, onion, pickles, tomato, lettuce and Burger Project “special sauce”. It was very tasty – loved the texture of the crumbed mushroom! – but at $20 a bit pricey for a burger, small chips and small drink.
Indoor seating was a little cramped – taking a table next to other diners, we could hardly hear ourselves over their conversation, even though they were speaking at a normal volume. Outdoor seating in the sunshine is much nicer and less crowded – would recommend that!
The burgers themselves seemed small but were very filling. The house-made strawberry soda was the highlight of my meal, light and not too sweet – it tasted like real strawberries, rather than sugary strawberry syrup.

Overall, the food was good but seemed a little pricey, although it was about what you would pay for any good-sized lunch in the CBD. I’ll definitely be back.
