Autumn Salon
14 April – 2 May
Mitchell Fine Art Gallery, Fortitude Valley
Mitchell Fine Art presents Autumn Salon, an exhibition symbolising a powerful period of transition, marking the shift from active growth to quiet reflection, harvest, and release.
Autumn Salon is an exhibition of Indigenous and Contemporary artworks drawn from the Gallery stockroom that seek inspiration from the seasonal change reflecting a warmer and vibrant time of the year. The colours are rich, warm, and earthy, with features of vibrant reds, deep oranges, golden yellows, muted beiges and olive greens.

Representing a balance between light and dark, the exhibition embraces the symbolism of the season with over thirty works from represented and stockroom artists. The artists featured in the exhibition have each responded to the season differently. Colour, texture and a sense of renewal connect the works in harmony.

This selection brings together a dynamic mix of works by contemporary artists Ann Thomson, Gilang Fradika, Idris Murphy, Jeff Makin, Mirra Whale, Peter Hudson, Sophie Cape and Steve Lopes. Impressively scaled paintings by renowned Aboriginal artists Gloria Petyarre, Kathleen Petyarre, Kudditji Kngwarreye, Lucy Loomoo, Ningura Napurrula, Paddy Stewart Tjpaltjarri, Phyllis Thomas, Rusty Peters, and Thomas Tjapaljarri drawn from the Gallery’s collection also feature.
