Spring Awakening
8 – 24 November 2019
NeverLand Theatre, North Lakes
A musical interpretation of Frank Wedekind’s 1906 play, intricately tied to the expressionist movement, Spring Awakening is a rock musical telling the story of teenagers discovering the tumult of sexuality.
Set in late 19th-century Germany, where grown-ups hold all the cards, headstrong Melchior and naïve Wendla stumble into each other’s arms, whilst anxious Moritz struggles to live up to society’s expectations. With only each other for guidance, a group of young people travel the rocky path of adolescence, discovering their bodies, minds and selves.
This celebration of youth and rebellion, fusing morality, sexuality and rock music into one powerful story, will run at MBTC from the 8 – 24 November, with direction from Pat James.
