Where?Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre
Queensland Symphony Orchestra continues their highly successful series of movie screenings with live accompaniment, with Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert, and Backstreet Brisbane has a double pass to give away! Head over to Instagram to enter now.
QSO will perform John Williams’ complete score live as part of the screening of the complete film under the baton of acclaimed conductor Benjamin Northey – I attended the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets In Concert last year and think it is fair to say that you have not fully experienced the grandeur and wonder of your favourite film score until you’ve heard it played live by a professional orchestra!
Legendary composer Williams is well known for scoring all eight of the Star Wars saga films to date, beginning with 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope for which he earned an Academy Award® for Best Original Score.  His scores for The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and most recently Star Wars: The Last Jedi were each nominated for Best Original Score. In 2005, the American Film Institute selected Williams’ score to 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope as the greatest American film score of all time, and the soundtrack to A New Hope has also been preserved by the Library of Congress in the National Recording Registry, for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
Since its release almost 40 years ago, Star Wars has taken the world by storm, won a score of awards, and captivated legions of fans. Return to where it all began – the desert planet Tatooine, the war between Rebels and Empire, droids and the Death Star and the destiny of a galaxy far, far away.
If you miss out on our giveaway, don’t fret – tickets can be purchased from the QSO website.
