Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble are excited to announce they are now accepting applications to audition for QSE‘s 2026 Core Ensemble and Apprentice Program.

Core Ensemble
Applicants for the Core Ensemble will be skilled actors with a solid foundation in training, a passion for performing Shakespeare, and a strong desire and capacity for being part of an artist-managed ensemble. The Core Ensemble, as the name suggests, is the heart and soul of QSE, and drives their artistic and business activities. Core Ensemble members not only want to participate in high quality theatre, but to be involved in its creation and in the creation of the conditions and communities in which it can thrive.
Apprentice Program
Applicants to the Apprentice Program do not need any previous experience performing Shakespeare. Apprentices must be at least 18 years of age by the beginning of the Minjerribah intensive (and there’s no upper age limit!). The ideal apprentice is a theatre artist eager to deepen their craft through immersion in classical text and performance. Apprentices receive extensive training and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of production and company life.
QSE believes theatre and actor training are most exciting and powerful when the community’s diverse nature is reflected. They encourage applications from First Nations artists, artists of colour, artists from CALD backgrounds, LGBTQI+ artists, neurodivergent artists, artists with disabilities, and artists of all ages, creeds, and educational and economic backgrounds.
Everyone who comes to work and play with QSE, regardless of their role, experience or profile, can expect to work in an atmosphere of collaboration, support, compassion and openness.
