Play on Stage presents The Playground in the Sky, written by Brisbane writer Harry Fritsch. This theatre experience for kids, families, and adults provides insight into childhood resilience and imagination, inspired by the 2022 floods in South East Queensland.
With no place left to play and a home sunken in the river, ten-year-old George’s life has gone up the creek! In the midst of all the chaos, an unlikely friend reveals the impossible – a secret floating playground high above the city.
Following the journey of George and his neighbourhood friends, this play explores the power of friendship, healing through play, and a dash of magic brought to life with animations by local artist Lachlan Toft.
These September school holidays, head to the Ron Hurley Theatre to experience the joy, catharsis, and perspective of looking back at our shared history through the eyes of our children.
