Australians recently voted in a federal election where one major party sought a mandate for a nuclear-powered future. Olivier Award-winning playwright Lucy Kirkwood’s play The Children asks us all: when do we take responsibility for the world we leave?

Inspired by events in Fukushima in 2011. Re-imagined on a coast near you. As the world outside is dealing with a disaster at a nuclear power station, two retired nuclear engineers Hazel and Rob are visited by Rose, a former colleague who arrives with shared history and a hidden agenda. Before they decide their future, they must reconcile their past.

Directed by Heidi Gledhill, this Queensland premiere production of The Children will star Amanda McErlean, Julia Johnson, and Terry Hansen.
