Wondered
5 – 6 April 2025
Ron Hurley Theatre, Seven Hills Hub, 28 Tallowwood St, Seven Hills
After a decade of mystery and madness, Mira Ball Productions’ award-winning theatrical sensation, Wondered, is making its return for a strictly limited season. Celebrating ten years since its first performance, this production promises to be darker, bolder, and more twisted than ever before.
First performed in 2015, Wondered quickly became a festival circuit phenomenon, winning over 40 awards, including Best New Australian Script. A reimagining of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, this fast-paced thriller delves into the world of the Mad Hatter and reimagines the beloved classic story from their perspective. It’s a contemporary one-act play that promises a night of fun, twists, and, most importantly, tea.
Leading the cast is Reagan Warner, reprising his role as the enigmatic Hatter. Joining him on the adventure are Sophie Mason as Alice, Jennifer B Ashley as Ches, Jaya Fisher-Smith as Dee, and Peter Wood as Dum.
Writer and director Elodie Boal spoke about the special anniversary and the importance of introducing new audiences to this bold production:
“Wondered has always been a Wonderland unlike any other,” says Boal. “It’s twisted, immersive, and filled with unexpected turns. After ten years, it’s thrilling to revisit this world with a new cast and a new vision. I’ve added more to the text, so it’s been exciting to even return to Wonderland myself. Audiences, both returning and new, can expect new surprises at every corner in this show.”
Wondered is brought to life by an acclaimed creative team led by Boal, with makeup, hair, and scenic design by Rosie Humphreys, costumes by Jackie Fredericksen, sound design by Mal Boal, and lighting design by Tony Kerr.
Described as “Edgar Allan Poe meets Lewis Carroll,” Wondered is a high-energy, visually striking theatre experience that reimagines Wonderland.
