String Revolution

19 & 20 October 2024

Honour Productions, 3/61 Holdsworth Street, Coorparoo

From Rachmaninoff to Bon Jovi, String Revolution is an eclectic showcase of the bowed string instrument and its limitless potential in music throughout the ages.

In an ever-changing musical environment, string instruments like the violin have changed with the times. This show aims to honour what has come before, with the first half of the concert consisting of an entirely acoustic classical string quartet. The second half of the show ushers in the new age of strings, with an entirely amplified live band playing hits from the 80s to now.

After a sold-out debut season in 2023, cellist and production director Nicholas Tam has brought the team back together with an expanded roster in 2024. Pillars of the Queensland String Community are back, like Kat Augustakis who has performed with stars such as Michael Bublé and the DeepBlue Orchestra. The cast of String Revolution has also expanded beyond Brisbane this year with internationally renowned Korean cellist Hyewon Chang, and Gold Coast Musician of the Year nominee Elias Kokkoris on double bass.
