Hosted annually by The Wickham, Big Gay Day is one of Brisbane’s largest LGBTQIA+ street festivals and in 2024 will be held on Sunday 5 May, headlined by Spice Girl’s Melanie C. Each year Big Gay Day raises around $10,000 for LGBTQIA+ charities and, in 2024, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to two LGBT organisations.
This year will be the 24th instalment of the event, which in 2024 invites partygoers down a rainbow brick road with the theme Wickham of Oz. Big Gay Day sees a sparkling line-up of popstars, drag queens, musicians and DJs come together, and in 2024 the line-up includes:

- Sneaky Sound System
- Tall Paul (UK)
- Hannah Conda
- Briefs Factory
- Jarred Baker
- Mega Drag
Paul Wheeler will also MC once again, having hosted previous Big Gay Days and regular events.
The Wickham has become one of Brisbane’s leading entertainment venues with the one-day festival previously hosting internationally renowned artists like Boy George and The Veronicas and more.
Venue Manager Mark Baker is anticipating another extravagant day: “Big Gay Day has become such an iconic day in the calendar for our community,” Baker said. “It’s all about being loud, proud, and having a lot of fun to raise money for important charities in the LGBTQIA+ space and we’re so excited for what’s coming in 2024.”
