Triple Threat – A Cabaret
23 & 30 November, 9 & 21 December 2023
PIP Theatre, Milton
Presented as part of PIP Theatre’s upcoming Toucan Club, Laura Fois’ second full-length cabaret Triple Threat promises to be an explosion of comedy, music and passion across horizons.
Triple Threat is a fast one-hour comical progression where “three strangers get sucked into the chaos that could only happen when an Italian (Laura Fois), a Chinese (Renee Kwok) and a South African (Ro van Rensburg) stumble upon each other on a stage.” They’ll find they have more in common that what they though, through exploring their own background and experimenting on how friendship is built.
They’ll treat you with some of your favourite tunes and make you laugh and wonder what is behind physical appearance, and what is communication really made of?
It is a show with an accent… well, more than one!
The show tells women stories, approaches Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) issues, and talks about diverse cultures and how those can promote and support quality of life. Triple Threat also touches on why people leave their own country; talks about stereotypes, misconception, appearance and how they can trick you; and femininity and expression of self in the broader term. It also approaches how communication goes beyond spoken words, and how friendship and support can be shared with the most unexpected people, if you are open to accept them in your life… or your show….
Directed by Aurelie Roque (USA), choreographed by Sara Jane Aistrope (Australian of Gamilaroi People descendance) and accompanied by Alexandra Angus (Australian of Scottish heritage), Triple Threat is a fully multicultural comedy that might leave you with some new thoughts about friendship and about people with an accent!
