André is losing his memory. Or is he losing his mind?

Perhaps he’s just fine and it’s everybody else. Anyway, this is his story, he just can’t quite stick to the storyline. He’s pretty sure he lives in Paris with his daughter, Anne. Or does Anne live in London with her new husband? Where is his other daughter, his favourite daughter? Who is the man in the kitchen with the chicken? Maybe Laura will be the angel who has come to save him.

Written by Florian Zeller and translated by Christopher Hampton, The Father is a tragi-comic journey into dementia through André’s eyes. A portrait of memory loss that works almost like a thriller, with undeniably sinister undertones, this is a play that will keep you guessing. This production is the Brisbane professional premiere of The Father and is directed by Angela Witcher.
