Bunker
19 – 22 October 2022
New Benner Theatre, Metro Arts, West End
Exploring the physical threat of virtual alarm, Bunker is a bold new intermedial dance work led by internationally renowned dance choreographer, Lisa Wilson and techno-troublemaker, Nathan Sibthorpe.
It’s 8:07am on January 13, 2018. Hawaii has just issued a false emergency SMS alert to all its citizens “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”
Telephone systems crashed under the weight of a whole population trying to say goodbye. Bunker explores what happens next. Integrating dance, an original score and dynamic video projection, Bunker is a theatrically compelling and visually rich exploration of digital fear – a primal scream into the sky that seeks to find a calm beauty in between our angst.
The gripping work is imbued with the question of our current times – how do we find moments of stillness when the world around us seems to be spiralling out of control?
