A small family business based in Brisbane, Works at Play was started by Early Childhood Teacher and mum of 4 Melissa, who is passionate about children learning through play and started building play furniture in 2014. Melissa couldn’t find the simple, naturally made, toddler-sized toys she wanted, so she began to make her own. Check out the website to read more about the ethos behind the toys, and to shop the range of products.
Nom Nom treats are made from human-grade ingredients, no preservatives or additives or grain. Starting with their signature handmade meat-based treats with vegetables and herbs, their range has now expanded to include single-ingredient treats and long-lasting chews for cats and dogs. All products that are not made in Brisbane are sourced solely from within Australia and New Zealand and also contain no nasties. Check out their website for more information and to see the range of tasty treats, tested and approved by the two dogs that inspired the business: Donut, a Kelpie cross Labrador, and Ragnar, a Kelpie cross Chihuahua.
Started by a young Brisbane family – early childhood educator turned stay at home mum Alison, electrician Dion, and their two daughters – Little Toy Tribe is an online store of curated products with a focus on discovery and learning through open-ended play; simple, versatile toys that allow for limitless possibilities of creation and imaginative play.
The Big & Little Dogs team is two humans, Emma and Megan, and three pups – Charge, Chase, and Harvey. Unable to find matching accessories for her Great Dane and Frenchie at a pet expo, Emma was inspired to start a range of accessories with Megan that catered to dogs of all shapes and sizes. Big & Little Dogs launched in 2016 and has now launched over 130 harness designs including being the first brand to release the Adjustable Harness, and the Reversible Harness in a larger range of sizes, for a wider range of breeds. If you’re a cat parent, never fear – they also have harnesses, leads, bandanas, and other accessories for your feline friends through Little Kitty Co!
